Challenges

The existing interceptor is located in close proximity to the Rio Ruidoso, which presents the following challenges:

  • Accessibility to interceptor for construction activities
  • High ground water
  • Prevalence of rock in underlying soils
  • River channelization has increased flood hazards and degraded the river channel

  • Potential reduction in infiltration and inflow into the collection system
  • Extension of the useful service life of the collection system
  • Prevention of damage to the interceptor from future flood events

Estimated Design Completion: December 2018 Estimated Permitting Requirements: 4 to 6 months (to occur in conjunction with design.)
