Project Update: August 8, 2022

Survey crews will be working for the Village of Ruidoso to support the construction of the Hazard Mitigation phase in the Upper Canyon area. This survey work is to gather surface conditions and data at the proposed project sites and provide additional data for the construction of the mitigation phase of the ongoing FEMA sewer line rehabilitation project.

The contractor, AUI, will have their survey crew on-site beginning on Monday, August 8th to begin verifying control data, laying out easement boundaries, identifying trees, and gathering initial topographical information. Current survey work will be limited to the area along the river between 627 Main Road and 828 Main Road. Following the survey work, AUI will begin installing boundary fencing. Initially, surveyors may be placing wooden stakes and small plastic markers (also referred to as “whiskers”) and flags. Trees will be marked with colored ribbons. This initial work will cause little to no disturbance. Before heavy construction begins, the Village of Ruidoso will ensure that additional notification and public outreach will take place.

The crews will be in vehicles owned by Molzen Corbin, High Water Mark, AUI, Baca's Trees, and all individuals will wear safety vests during their working operations to assist property owners in identifying them. Starting Monday morning, project personnel will knock on the doors of property owners in the vicinity to let them know hazard mitigation construction project crews will be onsite doing survey work. If there is no one home, notices will be left on the property owner's doors.
